This past weekend

So did you guess what we did this last weekend? I, for one, put the big TV to the test and watched as many basketball games as I could. Can't believe that Purdue ended the season so poorly, but we are thrilled to watch Butler in the Sweet Sixteen again! Go Dawgs! And also, a couple of my other favorites are still in it. I can hardly wait until Thursday. I read in the newspaper that a Lego convention was in town. I casually mentioned this to Uncle Kevin and within the half hour, the Seiberts were planning a trip down!
It was pretty much out of control. This was my favorite display. Not only was it three levels and had three different trains, you could also press buttons to make the ferris wheel or merry go round turn, or to set a building on "fire". I spoke to the creator of this display. I believe that he has a very understanding wife.

At some other displays, there were lighted "inner workings" on display.

This was the inside of the mini Lucas Oil Stadium that had a working retractable roof. Pretty cool. That's a lot of mini figs.

This drew quite a crowd because there were all kinds of things that you could look for like a chiropractor or Buzz Lightyear.

Another personal favorite. I have a soft spot for the space shuttle.

After a while, Tessa was in need of a cuddle. The troops were getting worn out.
There was a big table full of gray blocks that you could create your own Lego sculpture.

Annalise made an "elephant head"

evie and her creation. By this time, Natalie kept telling us that she was hungry so we decided to hit the chic-fil-a

On the way out of the convention center, we had to take a look at the hot rod convention. And there was also the firemen's convention going on. Oliver was in heaven.

Our weekend, in summary

Yes, there will be pictures, but this sums up our weekend. Can you guess what two things we did?

Catch up

So it's been quiet around here. Everyone has regained health and we are back on our normal schedules of school, work, and bathroom cleaning. This is what has been going on the last week and a half. We celebrated Fat Tuesday. I was able to find a decent baguette at Whole Foods. Who knew? Shlee liked it.
I made this awesome red beans and rice. Of course, we drank hurricanes and wore beads.

We also endulged in the Polish tradition and ate Paczkis filled with raspberry filling. We each ate one. I can't speak for them, but my belly hurt.
This is actually what Evie ate for breakfast. Mom of the year. I made sure to pack her an extra healthy lunch to make up for it.
There has also been a lot of cuddling going on. Aren't they cute?

I went away last weekend to meet my friend Jen in Springfield,IL. We learned all about our 16th president and toured his home. We also attended the town's St Patrick's Day parade and drank beers with bagpipe players and did lots of shopping. It was a great time. My kiddos must have missed me though, because we needed to all lay on the couch together.
And the weather started to turn and we started thinking about the garden. Annalise has been after me to start the seeds for the garden. I finally caved in and she planted her zinnia seeds and my tomato plants. It's probably a little early, but she loves to check on her plants.

My little gardener.

And we celebrated with another theme meal. Guinness stew and Irish soda bread. We took a break from the first day of games to eat and then it was back to the TV.
