Halloween weekend fun

We had a great Halloween weekend filled with all kinds of fun. First, mom and dad slept in (yeah!). After breakfast, we started working on the pumpkins. This year, the girls did most of the work themselves. We cut open the tops and they emptied the guts. We have a pumpkin carving knife that worked really well and they did most of the carving on their own.
Evie named this pumpkin Natalie because it had curly hair.

Annalise carved her "pink" pumpkin. I think it was a cross of a butternut squash and pumpkin. Made a cute Jack -o-lantern.

Our neighborhood has a Halloween parade every year. The firemen came out to lead the parade with a truck that ran its lights and siren the whole time.

Fun times and the girls got to test out their costumes before the big day.

We went down to the zoo for the Zoo Boo with our friends, Mike, Andy, Amanda and their parents. Mike was Peyton Manning. I sacked him in the parking lot. It was fun. Andy was the Hulk. We all took a break to watch the lemurs jump around.

A cute and very warm puppy, Amanda, hitches a ride on Dad's shoulders.

The kids all pose on the spider web. It was prety funny when they tried to leave and they all fell down when they tripped on the net.

Finally trick or treat time arrives. They could barely stand still to have a picture taken. Evie is Interplanet Janet from School House Rock. She took great pride in being something no one knew. Almost as obscure as Daisy Head Maizy last year. Annalise is really into Fairies right now so she chose to be a pink fairy. Perfect with me because we had the costume already. Just had to make a pretty flower headband.

This was the trick or treating crew. Offically, trick or treat starts at 5 pm. These five started at about 5:05. Dad went out with the girls and I stayed home by the fire pit and handed out candy.

Our spooky pumpkins decorate the yard.

They move so fast the camera could barely capture them as they ran from house to house.

Annalise was always bringing up the rear. Not due to her short legs, but because she ate every other piece of candy that she received.

If you aren't familar with Interplanet Janet, here's the inspiration for Evie's costume. We bought the DVD with all the School house rock episodes and they watch it on our long car trips.
