Yes, it's July and we are still catching up. Hang in there. For Mother's day, we went to the racetrack to watch the practice runs.
As we were driving in Speedway (the name of the town), a car pulled up beside us.
It is the two seater Indy car that you can ride in with Mario Andretti! (for a price, of course). It was a lot louder than the old grocery getter. And way cooler.
We parked in the infield near this beauty. If you are going to have a pace car, it should be a corvette. And as long as you are buying a corvette, it should probably be yellow.
Sitting in the grandstand across from the pagoda at the start finish line.
This year's pace car is also a Corvette that had 600 hp and was street legal. There were only 2 so we didn't see them all around town this year.
These two endured the race track like I endured the Lord of the Rings. It was 2 hours of their lives that they didn't particularly enjoy and will never get back. But since it was Mother's Day, they had to live through it. And it was also only 80 degrees. That's balmy down at the track.
Tallers on the yard of bricks!
And then we were hanging out in gasoline alley and got a close up look at some cars. While the girls and I were in the bathroom, Jim even saw Sara Fisher!
